- Diplom-Ingenieur of Electrical Engineering (1967) at TH Darmstadt

- Doctorate (1973) and Habilitation (1977) from Universität Stuttgart

- Professor of Simulation Engineering at Ruhr Universität Bochum (1977-1979)

- Professor of Control Engineering at Universität Stuttgart (1979-2005)

- Chairman and Vice Chairman (1993-1997) of Fakultät für Verfahrenstechnik und Technische Kybernetik

- Scientific Advisor of German-Israeli-Foundation (GIF) for Scientific Research & Development (1997-2007)
