I am interested in the application and method development of systems theory in biology and medical engineering. I coordinate the activities of the systems biology group and the medical engineering group at the ISYS. My fields of interest are the following topics:

  • constraint-based methods like flux balance analysis (FBA), flux variability analysis, regulatory and dynamic FBA
  • adaptive evolution
  • model-based evaluation of measurements (transcription measurements, concentration measurements)

My doctoral dissertation investigated the  Model-based methods for the analysis of the adaptive evolution of microorganisms under laboratory conditions.


I'm involved in lectures in the area of systems biology: 


I'm a member of the Stuttgart Research Center Systems Biology (SRCSB). I'm Head of IZST office Stuttgart (Interuniversitäres Zentrum für medizinische Technologien Stuttgart – Tübingen).
